Getting your Managers Ready for Day 1 Rights – Employment Rights Bill

A one-day practical, participative workshop to develop your managers’ skills to be ready for the new world of work in which all their employees are entitled to protection from unfair dismissal and their decisions about flexible working requests could come under a greater degree of scrutiny.

Whilst the Government is working through the precise detail of what the process steps may look like, HR teams can develop their managers’ competence how to make good ER decisions. These skills will be relevant now, but they will stand managers in good stead as they get used to any new processes that the new legal framework may require.

Learning Objectives

By attending this workshop, delegates will be able to:

  • Nip situations of concern about performance, attendance and conduct in the bud informally and with confidence and skill
  • Make ‘reasonable’ decisions in performance, conduct and absence management cases
  • Justify their decisions in flexible working cases
  • ‘Show their workings’ for the decisions they make in all these situations, so that their HR teams have the evidence they need.

Managers who are skilled in the ‘how to’ in will cope better with any changes in procedure that are needed when the Bill becomes law. Give your managers the development now, and they will have the opportunity to practice what they learn in a procedure framework that they know (and love?).

Course Overview

We build all our training programmes bespoke, so it’s down to where you want the emphasis of your workshop to be. Here is an example of what a typical course could look like, but please get in touch to tailor this for your business.
