Why is face to face learning better than elearning for this topic?
It’s because this topic is tough: We judge our own actions by our own intent, so people do not see themselves as ‘a harasser’; or what they do as harassment.
Also, elearning is typically done individually, so our self-protecting unconscious bias will distance ourselves from descriptions of behaviour that are not okay: We will tell ourselves ‘that’s not me’ or ‘I wouldn’t do that’. We need the view of our peers to challenge our own perceptions and hear the viewpoints of others to raise awareness of others’ lived experiences and how that can impact how our actions are received.
